AI Shaped by We, The People
We believe everyone is affected by the advancement of AI. As AI models are increasingly integrated into our daily lives, the technology has the power to transform the economy, to shift the distribution of power, and to change the environment. These changes have broad impacts on how each and every person moves through the world.
We believe everyone should have a voice in deciding how AI is developed and deployed. In short, AI should not be unilaterally controlled by large corporations or a few powerful developers, but should be governed democratically. People should be able to determine whether and how their data is used to train AI models. Communities should have a say on where their water and electricity resources should flow. Profits from AI should not be concentrated among a few oligarchs.
We believe everyone is an AI ethicist. Everyone has a stake in the advancement of AI, and everyone has a unique perspective to bring to AI regulation and ethics. Whether you are a parent or educator concerned about AI’s impact on child development; whether you are facing job insecurity and financial turmoil due to AI disruptions in the workforce; whether you are a homeowner keeping up with the impact of AI data centers on energy rates and water availability; you have a voice that deserves to be heard, concerns that should be addressed, and insight that should be shared. AI ethics and regulations should be designed with the concerns of everyone in mind.
We believe everyone is a philanthropist. Everyone directs their time, energy, and resources towards causes they believe in and efforts that will bring them towards a better future. For donations large and small, we ensure that every contribution to CDAI goes towards impactful research and advocacy projects that advance AI security, equality, and economic opportunities for all.
Together, we can accelerate impact on the AI issues you care about most.
A Unique Approach to AI Policy
Center for Democratic AI is the nation’s leading grassroots AI policy organization.
While there are many AI policy think tanks, academic institutions, and technology corporations that distribute AI policy white papers and research reports, CDAI stands tall in representing and incorporating the public voice in AI policy. We focus on the 340 million Americans who are affected by AI.
Our work keeps each American informed on the status of AI legislation as well as the effects that transformative AI may have on the environment, their daily lives, and the country’s social fabric. Most importantly, our online resources allow individuals to voice their support or criticism of the AI regulations or developments that may affect them.
Center for Democratic AI works by representing one important stakeholder in the AI policy conversation — you. By empowering the public with information and access to AI policy tools, we are working towards a future where the development and deployment of AI are steered by the public.
